Alcatel-Lucent XFP (10-Gigabit Small Form-factor Pluggable) transceivers are legacy but high-performance optical modules designed for 10 Gbps data transmission. While the newer SFP+ has largely superseded the XFP form factor in modern access switches, Alcatel-Lucent (and Nokia) XFP modules remain critical for maintaining and scaling older OmniSwitch chassis and high-capacity Service Routers (7750 SR).
